The Shortfalls of traditional funds
This aspect of our activities does not need thorough explantation. Basically, it involves gathering funds and donating them to people in need. Seems pretty simple considering that various funds do just that. The essence, however, lies in the fact that we are doing this in a rather unconventional way. Typically, people contribute funds and then they are donated to various organizations that seek the promotion of various interest consistent with the scope of the organization. Yet, there are numerous inefficiencies that are normally associated with how this works.
First of all, there are different interventions within the organization that earn a salary and some of the donated funds go to pay off just that. Also, there is insufficient track record as to where these funds actually went and even less transparency surrounding who these funds actually helped. As a result, people’s common perception is to donate whatever amount is being asked by the fund they sort of have an affiliation with through schools their children attend or through Churches or other points of interest and move on with their lives. Typically, only very few donate on a regular basis. And that has nothing to do with people’s unwillingness to help but with rather unclear and untransparent matter these funds operation. Not to mention other elements where funds would be donated to organizations with similar political views or economic interests.
Miatsum’s mission is to aimed at avoiding these pitfalls and rebuilding the trust the Armenians have in Pro Armenian organizations.
